Colin got up early to surf the local spot down the street and I decided to sleep in. I told him I would walk down to the beach a bit later to meet him. The weather was a bit overcast but it was still a nice, brief walk down to the beach. There were only a couple other surfers out in the water, so Colin had the spot mostly to himself and it was a beautiful spot! We had breakfast at a small, cafe around the corner from the beach and then went into the small town of Waihi Beach to find me a surfboard that I could rent.
Skies cleared later in the day so we took a hike around the cliffs above the beach. On the hike down from we found matching shell rings on the beach!
